How can I get those for my mkvs? I don't want the whole episode's subs, just the bits that appear when the characters stop speaking english. Thanks for any help, I've spent a fair amount of time looking for an answer.
Edit: I should mention that I dont want to edit the srt file with all of the subtitles in notepad to get only the subs I want because that would ruin plots pretty quick. Last edited by Qzz8zz; 27th Jun at You're dealing with one of two things, and I'll limit my remarks to Blu-Rays.
Since I haven't dealt much with DVDs for a while, lest I give you bad information, someone else should comment on them: 1 Hardcoded subs that are part of the picture itself. They are encoded into the picture and are not removable as a practical matter ; whatever was behind them is gone forever. This type would be easy, no action required on your part. You're gonna have them regardless. These are commonly embedded in another subtitle stream, and I've never seen one that is a separate subtitle track.
I'm trying to get subtitles and the non English parts to work and have a few questions. I see various threads around but nothing current so I just want to make sure of my facts. The Subtitles work at the appropriate time but I am after the age old "Solution" of only wanting the non English parts to display. Is it true that the srt file can only contain the non English parts for it to work as I would like?
Or can the srt have the whole movie in English and Emby play the non English parts only? If this is possible, how do I set this up? I am happy to do a remux of file before adding it to my library so long as the process works if there is a proven method. I download from the opensubtitles website but it always downloads the subtitles for the whole movie.

I had a slightly different problem. The non-english subs showed up in german when I watched an episode the other day. The only way I got it to go to english was to turn on closed captioning Same thing is going on for me.W(xi~ yw(lj,con~titute 1 jn nw
Amazon needs to fix that. This happened to me. I think the only way I was able to fix it was by reinstalling Prime video on my device or clearing cache. Once you select closed captioning and turn it off, it removes ALL subtitles from the video. If you can delete your viewing history for that show, that will likely help.
If you open a different show you'll notice non english subtitles will appear. Let me know if this works. Been an ongoing issue for quite a while. When I watched season 1 of Jack Ryan in UHD, there were burned in subtitles for the non English parts and then again displayed over top rendered by Prime.
Had the same problem with Man in the High Castle. Makes it unwatchable IMO. Congrats to the Winners!VideoHelp Forum. Remember Me? Download free trial!

Recently I am trying to re watch Game of Thrones to get ready for the final season and I notice that nothing I watch on any device has subtitles when they are speaking other languages then English. As these are translated in show most of the time, it ruins the experiance a bit.
I was wondering if there is a way to watch the show with only those subtitles showing, not English for what everyone says. I tried to google this or check the forums but I haven't really found anything that matches this specific issue.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thank you. Just had a look at my collection for GoT and found there are a mix of none, internal subs and others with them burned in.
